It was Stroman’s second straight start against the Phillies after throwing six innings of two-run ball on Sunday night against Philadelphia on the road.
The Phillies were able to figure out Stroman as the former Blue Devil was chased after four innings of allowing ten hits and five runs, four earned, while picking up the loss on Philadelphia’s 5-0 win over the Mets.
Things were tough for Stroman from the start as he allowed a lead-off home run to Cesar Hernandez. After holding the Phillies scoreless in the second and third innings, Philadelphia struck for four runs in the fourth inning, blowing the game open and sending Stroman packing.
Stroman has only factored in three decisions for the New York Mets since the team acquired him at the MLB Trading Deadline on July 30.
With the loss on Saturday Marcus Stroman moved to 1-2 with the Mets, while he drops to 7-13 on the season with a 3.42 ERA with the Mets and the Toronto Blue Jays this season.
The New York Mets trail the Chicago Cubs by four games for the second National League Wild Card spot as the have to climb over the Arizona Diamondbacks, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Phillies to overtake the Cubs.
Marcus Stroman is next schedule to get back on the mound for the Mets as they continue to hunt for a playoff spot in the final game of a crucial four game series against the Diamondbacks on Thursday, September 12 at 1:10pm EST.
