The Duke Football team will host the North Carolina A&T Aggies on Saturday evening and despite being a mid-major team, the Aggies will not be an easy victory for the Blue Devils.

The North Carolina A&T Aggies are not your run of the mill mid-major college football program.

On Saturday evening the Aggies will enter Wallace Wade Stadium looking for a win to further cement they are an FCS powerhouse.

More from Ball Durham

Since 2015, North Carolina A&T has played in, and won, the Celebration Bowl except in 2016 when  they were not in the game and lost in the First Round to Richmond in the FCS Playoffs.

The Aggies defeated Alcorn State in 2015 and 2018 while beating Grambling in 2017.

In Week 1, North Carolina A&T defeated Elon on a last second field goal attempt, 24-21.

Quarterback Kylil Carter completed 16-of-27 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 27 yards in the win.

Last season Carter played in a back-up role and completed 56.0% of his passes (42-for-75) for 397 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions.

Carter really locked in on wide receiver Elijah Bell who caught nine passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. Quinze Lockhart also found the end zone despite only catching two passes for 39 yards.

Bell was a major thread in the Aggie air attack last season reeling in 48 passes, second highest on the team, for 541 yards and six touchdowns.

On the ground, North Carolina A&T turned to Jah-Maine Martin for 21 carries totaling 54 yards and a touchdown after coming off a season where he only had 46 rushes for 286 yards and two touchdowns.

The Duke Blue Devils are the only major conference opponent on the Aggies schedule this season and North Carolina A&T’s second year head coach Sam Washington will have his team ready to play come Saturday.

If fans cannot make it to Wallace Wade Stadium for the game on Saturday, September 7, the game can be seen on the ACC Network with kickoff at approximately 6:00pm EST.
