The Alabama Crimson Tide pulled away from the Duke Football team in the second half as the Crimson Tide cruised to a victory.

The class of the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide prevailed in its 42-3 victory over the Duke Blue Devils in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game on Saturday afternoon.

Duke was within striking distance in the first half, but was unable to capitalize on its two red zone opportunities, turning the ball over on downs in the first quarter and settling for a field goal right before half time.

Down 14-3 at the break, Duke received the second half kickoff and after creating some momentum, the Blue Devils were faced with a 4th & 3 just beyond mid-field.

For the second time in the game, the Blue Devils were unable to covert the 4th down play, picking up only two yards.

Alabama would take advantage of the great field position and find the end zone in just nine plays to go up 21-3.

The Blue Devils quickly fumbled on its ensuing possession and once again the Crimson Tide were ready to pounce, getting in to the end zone 53 seconds later to blow the game open at 28-3.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa masterfully lead the Alabama offense and in three quarters completed 26-of-31 passes for 336 yards and four touchdowns.

On the other side, it was a major struggle for Quentin Harris as the Blue Devil starting quarterback was only able to complete 12-of-22 passes for just 97 yards and two interceptions.

Alabama will continue its ‘revenge tour’ at home against the New Mexico State Aggies next Saturday.

At 0-1 on the season, Duke will turn its attention to North Carolina A&T as the Blue Devils return to Wallace Wade Stadium next Saturday for its home opener at 6:00pm EST.
