Daniel Jones, the former Duke Football quarterback, had an uneventful preseason finale as the New York Giants took on the New England Patriots.
The final preseason game is not typically one where starters and back-ups play that much. It is where third, fourth, and even fifth string guys are trying to impress the coaching staff and competing for those final roster spots.
Despite being firmly cemented as the back-up quarterback to Eli Manning to start the season, former Blue Devil quarterback Daniel Jones started the fourth preseason game against the New England Patriots on Thursday night.

It was Jones’ first start of the preseason but it didn’t last very long.
The No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft only played one series, but in that one series he was his accurate and reliable self, just like he has been the entire preseason.
Against the defending Super Bowl Champions, Jones completed all four of his pass attempts for 47 yards.
The drive ended in the Giants turning the ball over on downs after being unable to convert a 4th & 1 from the Patriots 13-yard line.
New York ended up winning the game 31-29, capping off a perfect 4-0 preseason.
In his four preseason games, Daniel Jones completed 29-of-34 passes (84.5%) for 416 yards and two touchdowns, with no interceptions. The only turnovers Jones had this preseason were two lost fumbles in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears.
There’s no knowing when the next time fans will be able to see Daniel Jones on the field again as the regular season is right around the corner and the Giants are hoping not to have to turn to the former Blue Devil this season.
The New York Giants open up the season on the road against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, September 8 at 4:25pm EST and the game can be seen on FOX.
