David Cutcliffe names Blue Devil captains for 2019 season
Duke Football head coach David Cutcliffe has named his captains for the 2019 season as the Blue Devils take on Alabama in just over a week.
The Duke Blue Devils will turn to Quentin Harris, Koby Quansah, Dylan Singleton, Zach Baker, Edgar Cerenord, and Tre Hornbuckle for leadership both on and off the field this season as head coach David Cutcliffe named those six players captains for the 2019 season.
Harris, the starting quarterback for the Blue Devils this season, is a red-shirt senior quarterback from Wilton, Connecticut.

The former Taft School star played in 12 games for the Blue Devils last season, starting two for the injured Daniel Jones. Harris completed 50% of his passes (34-for-68) for 437 yards and seven touchdown passes, while rushing for five more.
Quansah is also a senior from Connecticut who played in ten games last season, totaling 38 tackles.
The 6-foot-1 senior will look to solidly Duke’s defense as the starting middle linebacker.
Dylan Singleton will also be looking for fortify the Blue Devil defense as the starting safety for Duke.
The 5-foot-11 senior captain from Dacula, Georgia, recored 73 total tackles last season, a half of a sack, one pass deflection, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
Zach Baker is a red-shirt senior from Green Cove Springs, Florida who has played in a total of 33 games for the Blue Devils on the offensive line, 12 last season, but only with two starts in his career.
He was listed as a second string on the depth chart to start the season.
Edgar Cerenord is a red-shirt senior from Miami, Florida that had his 2018 season cut short due to an injury and will return to the Blue Devils for a fifth season.
The defensive line man only had 14 total tackles and a half a sack in his four games, but in 2017 the 6-foot-1, 305 pound monster accumulated 34 total tackles and two sacks in 12 games.
Cerenord’s teammate on the defensive line, Tre Hornbuckle, is also entering his senior season as he’s looking to continue his dominant play for the Blue Devils.
The senior from Murray, Kentucky as 79 total tackles in 25 games played over two seasons with Duke, along with 13 tackles for a loss and two sacks.
Duke will kickoff its season on August 31 against the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game from the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia at 3:30pm EST on ABC.
