Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield quickly backtracked on some comments he made about former Duke Football quarterback Daniel Jones.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield had some interesting words for former Duke and current New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

In an interview with GQ, Mayfield said he was “mind blown” the the Giants took Jones with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Mayfield cited that organizations forget that players still “gotta win” in college as teams evaluate them as draft prospects.

Jones responded to Mayfield’s comments on Tuesday, taking the high road, saying that he loves watching Baker play and that he can really throw the ball.

Once Mayfield’s comments became public, he quickly made another statement saying how his comments were taken out of context and used for ‘click-bate’.

Since the off-season, the Giants and the Browns have a sticky history due to the Giants sending star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to Cleveland.

In three years as a starter at Duke, Jones went 17-19, including three bowl victories during his tenure.

While wins and losses aren’t a major stat line in the preseason, in his two games with the Giants, Jones is 16-of-19 for 228 yards and two touchdowns as the Giants are 2-0 in the preseason.

Mayfield gave Giants rookie Saquon Barkley a run for his money for the 2018 Rookie of the Year Award as the Oklahoma product gave Cleveland its first win in nearly two years over the New York Jets in Week 3 and proceeded to go 7-7 with the Browns last year.

The 2017 Heisman Trophy winner led the Oklahoma Sooners to the College Football Playoff in 2017, but fell to the Georgia Bulldogs in the Semifinals.

Mayfield has been a player throughout his career to wear his emotions on his sleeves and freely speak his mind, and due to his actions on the field, sometimes people will take your comments out of context.

The Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants do not play this season, but hopefully one day in the future there will be a Baker Mayfield vs. Daniel Jones battle we can all look forward too.
