The former Duke Basketball star Jayson Tatum shined in Team USA’s scrimmage against Spain on Friday night in Anaheim.

Team USA was back on the floor after a rocky week in Los Angeles.

After the National Team won a scrimmage last Friday night against the Select Team made up of NBA player, the team lost a closed door scrimmage to the G-League Select Team.

Criticism and scrutiny soon followed as the news broke and fans thought Team USA would be doomed headed into the FIBA World Cup on August 31.

The team was able to ease the concern of some by defeating Spain in a scrimmage in Anaheim on Friday night.

USA won the game 90-81 and former Blue Devil Jayson Tatum stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, five rebounds, four assists, and a block.

Tatum was tied for the third most points on Friday with his new Boston Celtics teammate Kemba Walker.

Donovan Mitchell led the team with 13 points while Khris Middleton dropped 12 points in the win.

The 21-year old wing was 3-of-9 from the floor, but went 2-for-3 from 3-point range and made all three of his free throw attempts in 22 minutes of action.

Jayson Tatum wasn’t the only former Blue Devil on the floor as Mason Plumlee also saw action for Team USA but the big man did not score despite grabbing two rebounds in 14 minutes.

Plumlee also recorded one assist and one steal in the win.

Both of Plumlee’s rebounds came on the defensive end and he did not take a shot in the game.

Team USA will have to soon dwindle its roster of 14 players to a 12-man roster as the team will head to Australia for more scrimmages in a pre-Word Cup Tour before traveling to China for the FIBA World Cup which starts on August 31.
