Late Friday night former Duke Basketball star Marvin Bagley III was added to the Team USA National roster by Jerry Colangelo.
After Team USA concluded its intra-squad scrimmage in Las Vegas on Friday night, the team made an announcement that it would be cutting Bam Adebayo and Thaddeus Young and adding Marvin Bagley III and Derrick White to its National Team roster.
Bagley and White had been on the USA Select Team and played for the ‘White Team’ on Friday, comprised of other Select Team members.

In the scrimmage Bagley struggled, ending the night with eight points and three rebounds on just 3-of-11 shooting in 16 minutes.
White had a better game with 12 points, three rebounds, eight assists, and two steals in under 25 minutes.
As for Adebayo and Young, the Kentucky product in Adebayo saw the floor for 11 minutes, totaling three points, two rebounds, one assist, and two steals, making his lone attempt from the field.
Young also played 11 minutes, and finished with five points and one assist.
Director of Basketball Operations for Team USA, Jerry Colangelo announced the decision after the scrimmage that the team would be making the switch.
Bagley joins his Sacramento Kings teammate De’Aaron Fox on the USA National Team.
While Marvin Bagley and Derrick White will now travel with Team USA to Los Angeles as the team continues its training camp, it’s no guarantee that either will make the FIBA World Cup roster as the roster currently stands a 17 players and must be down to a final roster of 12 by August 17.
Team USA will scrimmage Spain on August 16 before head coach Gregg Popovich must decide on his final roster.
Bagley joins former Blue Devil Mason Plumlee in the group of front-court players looking to make the team along with Brook Lopez, Myles Turner, and P.J. Tucker.
In his rookie season with the Kings, Bagley played in 62 games, averaging 14.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game en route to a selection for the 2018-19 All-Rookie First Team.
