After being named to his first All-Star team, the former Duke Baseball legend, Marcus Stroman will not pitch due to an injury.

Days before what was supposed to be his first All-Star game, the world found out that Marcus Stroman would not pitch in the Mid-Summer Classic due to a pectoral injury.

Stroman was scratched from his final scheduled start before the All-Star Break on July 4 and shortly after the injury was made public and it was announced that the former Blue Devil would not be taking part in the game.

In 18 starts this season, Stroman holds a 5-9 record with a 3.18 ERA in 104.2 innings pitched.

The four year veteran was the only All-Star from the Toronto Blue Jays this season who have been struggling with a 34-57 record, 24.5 games behind the New York Yankees for first place in the American League East.

Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka will replace Stroman on the American League roster.

While the Medford, New York native will not be pitching in the All-Star Game, Marcus Stroman will still be in attendance in Cleveland, taking part in the All-Star Festivities and be on the field and in the dugout on Tuesday night.

Expect to see the high energy pitcher on the field on Monday night for the T-Mobile Home Run Derby as his teammates and young hitting phenom, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will be taking part in the contest.

As center of many trade talks throughout Major League Baseball, it was odd to see Stroman leave his last start on June 29 against the Kansas City Royals just after throwing 66 pitches in 4 innings while allowing three runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out four.

The Blue Jays have not placed the Blue Devil legend on the Injured List and the team has not announced its starting rotation for the second half of the season, so it’s still possible that Stroman is back on the mound this weekend as the Blue Jays head to the Bronx to face the Yankees in a three game series starting on Friday night.

The MLB Home Run Derby starts at 8:00pm EST on ESPN on Monday, July 8 and the All-Star Game is on Tuesday, July 9 also at 8:00m EST on FOX. The MLB All-Star Parade and Red Carpet show starts on Tuesday at 3:00pm EST and can be seen on MLB Network.
