The former Duke Basketball reserve big man, Antonio Vrankovic, was very close to a double-double in his second ever NBA Summer League game on Sunday afternoon.

The forgotten big man of the Duke front-court of the last four years just nearly recorded the first double-double of any former Blue Devils in the NBA Summer League.

Antonio Vrankovic posted a team-high 12 points and eight rebounds against the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday afternoon in the second Summer League game for Team Croatia.

In addition to the near double-double, Vrankovic started his second straight game for Croatia and also notched an assist and two blocks on the afternoon, while shooting 6-of-11 from the field, missing his only 3-point attempt.

The team’s second leading rebounder on the afternoon, Vrankovic split his rebounds evenly on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.

The Zagreb native looked much more comfortable on the floor, outshining his three points and two rebound performance in the first Summer League game on Friday afternoon against the Detroit Pistons.

In the first game Vrankovic only played ten minutes but due to his elevated play, he was on the floor for 20 minutes against the Nets.

Croatia kept the game mostly competitive, even leading in the second half, but ultimately fell 74-58 to Brooklyn, falling to 0-2 in Las Vegas.

In his four years at Duke, Vrankovic never reached the ten-point mark in a game with his career high in points is eight, which he did twice in the 2016-17 season against Appalachian State and Maine.

The former Blue Devil did reached the ten rebound mark once at Duke, in the same 2016-17 season against Marist.

Antonio Vrankovic and Team Croatia gets another day off before the team is back in action on Tuesday, July 9 against the Oklahoma City Thunder at 3:30pm EST, which can be seen on NBA TV.
