The contact is four years and worth $141 million with the final year being a player option.
Back in October, Irving seemed to express his interest in re-signing with the Boston Celtics but throughout the course of the season back tracked on that statement, ultimately to end up in New York, but with a different team than most expected.
Irving is not the only player the Nets have landed as Brooklyn also agreed to terms with Kevin Durant and DeAndre Jordan, according to Woj.
The former No. 1 pick in the 2011 NBA Draft of the Cleveland Cavaliers spent six seasons in Ohio before being traded to Boston two years ago.
In his two seasons with the Celtics, Boston made an appearance in the Eastern Conference Championship, but Irving did not play that entire postseason due to a knee injury. After a first round sweep of the Indiana Pacers this postseason, Boston lost in five games to the Milwaukee Bucks in the Second Round.
Over his career, Irving won the NBA Finals in 2016 with the Cavaliers, in addition to being a six-time All-Star, the Rookie of the Year in 2012, and a Second Team All-NBA selection this season.
The former Blue Devil has played in 508 games in his career, starting every single one of them and is averaging 22.2 points, 5.7 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 46.5% from the field and 39.0% from 3-point range.
A playoff team from a year ago, the Brooklyn Nets hope to turn into a championship contended with Irving in the fold and Durant back on the court for the 2020-21 season after recovering from his achilles rupture.
