For the first time in his MLB career the former Duke Baseball star pitcher, Marcus Stroman, will be playing in the All-Star Game.

Amid all the news and hot takes surrounding NBA Free Agency, some big time MLB news was announced as the rosters for the 2019 MLB All-Star Game were released.

There was one name on the roster that had never been on an MLB All-Star roster before and that is former Duke Baseball star and current Toronto Blue Jays ace, Marcus Stroman.

Stroman has been with the Blue Jays since 2014, but never was selected to participate in the Mid-Summer Classic until now.

After picking up a no-decision this afternoon’s 7-6 victory against the Kansas City Royals after throwing four innings of four-hit ball, while allowing three runs, two walks, and four strikeouts, Stroman heard his name announced on ESPN’s Baseball Tonight, prior to Sunday Night Baseball.

Stroman took to Twitter to share his thoughts on his first ever selection.

Despite constant trade talk and rumors, Stroman holds a 5-9 record with a 3.18 ERA on the season and is the only representative of the Toronto Blue Jays in the MLB All-Star Game as the Jays are in the bottom tier of the league with a 31-53 record.

Marcus Stroman is scheduled to make one more start before the All-Star Break on July 4 against the Boston Red Sox at 7:07pm EST from Fenway Park.

Stroman has already pitched twice against the reigning World Series Champions this season, winning both games and throwing a combined 12 innings, scattering ten hits, allowing just one run, seven walks, and ten strikeouts.

The MLB All-Star Game will be held in July 9 from Progressive Field, the home of the Cleveland Indians in Cleveland, Ohio and the game can be seen on FOX at 7:30pm EST with the Red Carpet Parade and Show prior to the game on the MLB Network, starting around 3:00pm EST.
