The former Duke Baseball star, Marcus Stroman, put on a show this weekend in Fenway Park, blanking the deafening World Series Champion Boston Red Sox.

For the second time this season, Marcus Stroman faced the defening World Series Champion Boston Red Sox and for the second time this season, Stroman dominated the Sox, leading the Toronto Blue Jays to a victory.

Stroman tossed six shutout innings, scattering five hits and one walk, while striking out six in Toronto’s 6-1 victory, which gave the Blue Jays the series win over Boston.

While Stroman was lights out against Boston, the Red Sox color commentator, Dennis Eckersley, said that Stroman’s celebration of striking out Eduardo Nunez was “tired”.

The strikeout of Nunez was Stroman’s last batter of the day, capping off his 104 pitch performance.

The 28-year-old pitcher responded, saying that Eckersley’s comments “are always trash” and then noted how Eckersley’s would celebrate as a pitcher in the in 1970’s and 80’s and Stroman then called him a “clown” and a “hypocrite”.

This is not the first time that Stroman has dominated the Boston Red Sox this season.

On May 21 the former Blue Devil threw six innings, allowing one run on five hits, despite walking a season high six batters, he still struck out four.

Marcus Stroman has been the center of many trade talks this season and with the MLB Trading Dealine approaching, it seems that his days in Toronto are numbers.

After a blistering start to the season, Stroman struggled in May, but has started to regain his form in June, as he currently holds a 5-9 record with a 3.04 ERA.

While the ERA is solid for Stroman, the 5-9 record is primarily due to the Blue Jays’ struggles at the plate, scoring 4.13 runs per game, fourth-worst in the MLB, which has led to Toronto’s 29-50 record and a whopping 21.5 games behind the New York Yankees in the American League East, a possible suitor for Stroman.

Marcus Stroman’s next scheduled start will come on Friday, June 28, when the Blue Jays host the Kansas City Royals at 7:07pm EST.
