Quinn Cook showed the killer instinct that was developed in the Duke Basketball program for four years in Game 2 of the NBA Finals for the Golden State Warriors.
The Golden State Warriors normally have to rely on its bench for some quality minutes, especially without Kevin Durant, but the Warriors were dealt another blow on Sunday night in Game 2 of the NBA Finals.
The defending NBA Champions were without Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Andre Iguodala for periods of time and Head Coach Steve Kerr went to his sturdy backup guard for stability, Quinn Cook.
After a six point, nine minute Game 1 performance, the veteran logged 21 minutes in Game 2 for nine points and one rebound on 3-of-6 shooting and 3-of-5 from 3-point range.
Cook’s nine points all came in the second half and he led the Warriors in second half scoring.
Cook’s back to back 3-pointers in the fourth quarter helped Golden State build a 10 point lead over the Toronto Raptors and the former Duke Blue Devils played the entire fourth quarter except the final 51.6 seconds of the game.
The big shot making ability of the National Champion and NBA Champion had many in attendance shocked, including Drake, super-fan and ambassador for the Raptors.
Maybe Drake will remember Quinn Cook as the leader of the 2015 Duke Blue Devils who won the National Championship, instead of “his” 38-1 Kentucky Wildcats.
After the game Draymond Green called Quinn Cook the “Patty Mills” of the Warriors and that he should stay with the team for a “long time”.
Mills is a do-it-all guard for the San Antonio Spurs and has become a key member of the new-look Spurs after winning the 2013-14 NBA Finals.
Quinn Cook and the rest of the Golden State Warriors will look to keep its momentum going as the NBA Finals now moves to Oracle Arena in Oakland for Games 3 and 4 and Game 3 is on Wednesday, June 5, at 9:00pm EST and can be seen on ABC.
