Duke Basketball: Zion Williamson signs with highly respected agency
The former Duke Basketball star Zion Williamson has made a decision on an agent and he picked a well respected agency.
After being somewhat held to the secrecy of the Duke Basketball program, Zion Williamson got his first taste of a minor Woj-Bomb on Thursday morning.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the former Duke superstar will have CAA Sports represent him in his NBA career.
The agency then announced the addition of Williamson.
It has been reported that Williamson was debating between CAA Sports and Klutch Sports, with a slight potential that he could also sign with Roc Nation.
In his report, Woj said that Austin Brown and Lisa Joseph-Metelus will represent Zion.
While it is unknown when CAA Sports began recruiting the Spartanburg, South Carolina native, the face of Klutch Sports, LeBron James, and its founder, Rich Paul, were in attendance to watch Zion and the rest of the Blue Devils against the Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottesville.
James and Paul could have been in attendance for many reasons, but knowing their attentiveness to the future and business side of basketball, it’s not far-fetched to think the duo could have been trying to recruit the Duke trio of Williamson, RJ Barrett, and Cam Reddish to Klutch Sports.
Klutch Sports also represents New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis, who has requested a trade from the franchise.
The Pelicans will certainly take Williamson with the No. 1 overall pick on June 20 in the 2019 NBA Draft.
Rich Paul failed to sign Williamson as well as Barrett and Reddish who signed with BDA Sports Agency and Octogon Basketball, respectively.
Some of Zion Williamson’s fellow CAA Sports clients include Paul George, Joel Embiid, and D’Angelo Russell.
Williamson is in line for a massive shoe contract upon his entry to the NBA and the next major decision in the future star’s young career will be which company to sign with.
