The Duke Baseball team earned an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament and will head to West Virginia for the Morgantown Regional.

The sweat in the room was budding as the Duke Blue Devils, firmly on the bubble, did not hear its named called when the first half of the bracket was revealed.

However, the glorious four letter word, D-U-K-E appeared on the ESPNU screen as the No. 3 seed in the Morgantown Regional and the Blue Devils will be headed to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the last four seasons.

Prior making the NCAAs in 2016, the last time the Blue Devils made the tournament was in 1961.

Head Coach Chris Pollard led Duke to all three of those NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Blue Devils will be joined by the No. 1 seed in the Regional bracket and the No. 15 National Seed, the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Texas A&M was named as the No. 2 seed in the region, while the Fordham Rams are the No. 4 seed.

Duke ended the regular season and the ACC Tournament with a 31-25 record and 15-15 in the ACC. The Blue Devils fell in pool play in the ACC Tournament to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on a walk-off double.

Last season the Blue Devils advanced from the NCAA Regional after losing its first game and winning its next four games, defeating host Georgia twice to advance to the Super Regional.

In the Super Regional, Duke dropped the first game in a heartbreaker to Texas Tech, but responded with a win in the second game to keep its season alive once again, however, the Blue Devils could not win the winner-take-all Game 3 and ended its season in the Lubbock Super Regional.

As for this year, the first game the Blue Devils will play in the Morgantown Regional is on Friday, May 31, at 4:00pm ET against the Texas A&M Aggies. The regional is in a double-elimination format.
