Duke Basketball: Coach K hopes Carolina Hurricanes ‘defy all odds’
The Carolina Hurricanes are in the Final Four of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and Duke Basketball head coach Mike Krzyzewski hopes the Canes can continue its run.
There are four teams left in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and, surprisingly, the Carolina Hurricanes are one of them.
One man that knows quite a few things about Final Fours is Duke Basketball head coach Mike Krzyzewski and he’s hoping the Hurricanes can keep its magical run going and “defy all odds”.

Krzyzewski appeared in a promo video on NBC during the first intermission of Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals between the San Jose Sharks and the St. Louis Blues, trying to create more of a buzz for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Hurricanes and the Boston Bruins.
The Bruins scored four goals in the third period in Game 1 to win 5-2 and take a 1-0 series lead.
Coach K called the Hurricanes a “Cinderella Story” in the video and that’s true after the Canes were the No. 7 seed coming into the Stanley Cup Playoffs with 99 points, beating out the Montreal Canadians by three points for one of the final two playoff spots.
The Hurricanes then had to play the resining Stanley Cup Champion Washington Capitals in the First Round and after falling behind 2-0 in the series and 3-2 heading back home to Raleigh, the Canes were able to win Game 6 at home and Game 7 on the road in Washington in double overtime to advance to the second round.
Carolina then made quick work of the New York Islanders in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, sweeping the Islanders to give the team some much needed time off prior to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Duke and the Hurricanes created a nice relationship this season with the Canes coming to a practice at Cameron Indoor Stadium earlier in the year and the Duke Men’s Basketball Twitter account wishing the Hurricanes good luck before some of its playoff games.

One tweet was a video of Zion Williamson sending a hype video to the Canes fans after the Game 3 win over the Washington Capitals.
The Carolina Hurricanes will look to keep its run going and try to tie the series at one game a piece in the TD Garden in Boston for Game 2 against the Bruins at 3:00pm ET on NBC.
