The New York Giants selected Duke Football quarterback Daniel Jones with the No. 6 overall pick in the NFL Draft and fans and the New York media aren’t loving the selection.
To say New York fans and media could be harsh is an understatement and Daniel Jones is finding that out the hard way after being the No. 6 overall pick by the New York Giants in the First Round of the NFL Draft.
Jones was the second quarterback selected behind Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray who was the first overall selection by the Arizona Cardinals and in place of Jones, Giant fans wanted the team to either select a top-tier defensive player like Kentucky’s Josh Allen or Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins.
Immediately after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced the pick, Giant fans took to Twitter to announce their displeasure with the pick and members of the media laughed in the face of Jones. A prime example, this ESPN stream.

ESPN’s and First Take’s Max Kellerman didn’t like the pick and according to him, it was still the wrong pick, even if Jones turns out to be a good NFL player.
The #NYGiants pass on Haskins and reach for Daniel Jones?!?!?! At 6???Even if they turn out be right about Jones being better than Haskins (AND Drew Lock), which other team was about to take Jones before the Giants picks again at 17? This cannot have actually just happened.

And obviously the New York City newspapers had their own message of the Giants’ selection and the back pages weren’t too kind to Jones.
Welcome to New York, Daniel Jones. pic.twitter.com/2X8n6bdfab

People that call themselves Giant “fans” and are taking to social media to bash and hate on a 21 year old prospect who just had his dream come true of being selected in the NFL Draft.
Jones is a prospect, he’s not going to play next season and that’s the perfect thing for him. He’s going to sit and learn behind someone who he has looked up to all his life in Eli Manning.
Daniel Jones can be the next franchise quarterback of the New York Giants, but fans aren’t even giving him the benefit of the doubt before he walks in the building for his introductory press conference.
