The former Duke Baseball ace and current ace of the Toronto Blue Jays, Marcus Stroman, finally got some run support in a shutdown of the Oakland A’s.

Marcus Stroman finally got some run support from the Toronto Blue Jays as the Jays downed the Oakland Athletics in the first game of its West Coast road trip.

As his alma mater was in the midst of a major comeback win over the Clemson Tigers, Stroman was mowing down A’s hitters left and right.

The Duke product was absolutely sensation on Friday night as he tossed eight innings, allowing just one run on six hits, walking two and striking out six in Toronto’s 5-1 victory.

Oakland was able to get its first and only run against Stroman in the first inning after a single from Marcus Semien followed by a RBI double from Matt Chapman.

Stroman was coming off of a strange start at home against the Tampa Bay Rays where he only threw four innings allowing three hits and three runs, none of which were earned. Stroman also walked four and struck out five.

As the Blue Jays lost 8-4 in that game, Stroman still picked up the loss, dropping him to 0-3 on the season with a 1.99 ERA.

However, after his domination against Oakland, the 27 year old ace of the Toronto Blue Jays has picked up his first win of the 2019 season as his record is now 1-3 and his ERA dropped to 1.76.

Despite still being in April, the Blue Jays are in third place in the American League East with a 9-12 record, five and a half games behind the first place Tampa Bay Rays and one game behind the New York Yankees for second place.

Marcus Stroman’s next start is scheduled to come against these same Oakland Athletics back in Toronto when the two teams meet again on Friday, April 26, at 7:07pm ET.
