The Duke Basketball program can add two more First Team All-America selections to its storied list as Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett have been selected by Associated Press.

The Associated Press released its All-America teams and teammates Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett were named to the First Team.

The Duke duo took the nation by storm and are the only two teammates that were both named to the First Team All-America.

Virginia’s Kyle Guy and De’Andre Hunter were the only other pair of teammates named to an All-America team and the UVA duo were both selected to the Third Team.

As for Williamson and Barrett, they are joined by Tennessee’s Grant Williams, Murray State’s Ja Morant, and Michigan State’s Cassius Winston.

On the season, Zion Williamson averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.1 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game, while shooting 68.0% from the field and an improving 33.8% from 3-point range.

Williamson only played in 33 games for the Blue Devils due to a knee sprain suffered on February 20 against North Carolina.

While that game counts as a ‘played game’ Williamson only played in 30 seconds, so in reality, the freshman’s stats are not as true to form as he gathered no stats for that particular game.

The freshman from Spartanburg, South Carolina also missed the entire second half of the first game against the Florida State Seminoles due to an eye injury suffered late in the first half.

In his record setting season, R.J. Barrett also averaged 22.6 points per game along with 7.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists, while shooting 45.4% from the field and 30.8% from 3-point range.

The freshman from Mississauga, Ontario played in all of Duke’s 38 games this season.

Despite not reaching the ultimate goal of winning a National Championship, R.J, Barrett and Zion Williamson became the first ever freshman duo to both average over 20 points per game, leading the Blue Devils to a 32-6 record, an ACC Tournament Championship, and an Elite 8 appearance.

Next up for both Barrett and Williamson will be their inevitable announcement to both enter their names in the 2019 NBA Draft, leaving Duke after one season.
