Duke Basketball: Kyrie Irving, Jayson Tatum combine for highlight play
Two former Duke Basketball standouts, Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum, combined their talents for a highlight play that brought the crowd to its feet.
Two players who are definitely not new to the jaw-dropping and highlight scene are Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum teamed up for one of the best plays on April 1.
As the Boston Celtics hosted the Miami Heat on Monday night, it only took a couple minutes for the former Blue Devils to get the TD Garden crowd on its feet.
A loose ball in the paint, made its way over to Irving and he fired a behind the back strike to Jayson Tatum to was at half-court.
Tatum and Celtics big man Al Horford has a two-on-one against Kelly Olynyk.
As Olynyk stepped towards Tatum, Tatum floated a lob to Horford who finished with an emphatic slam.
The play gave the Celtics a 9-2 lead over the Heat, a lead Boston would not relinquish, winning the game 110-105.
ESPN’s SportsCenter recognized the amazing play as it was the No. 10 play on the show’s famous ‘Top-10 Plays’.

The win improved the Celtics to 46-32 on the season, which currently puts them in a tie with the Indiana Pacers for the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Against Miami, Irving lead the team with 25 points along with eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Tatum finished with 19 points, six rebounds, five assists, and a steal.
Boston is three and a half games behind the Philadelphia 76ers for the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference as well as the lead for in the Atlantic Division.
The Celtics will play the back end of the home-and-home with the Miami Heat as the team only has four games left in the regular season before the grueling NBA Playoffs start.
The Miami Heat will host the Celtics on Wednesday, April 3, at 7:30pm ET and the game can be seen on NBATV.
