The Duke Basketball team had a sluggish start against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at halftime in the final regular season home game of the 2018-19 season.

The news broke earlier in the afternoon that Zion Williamson would not play tonight against Wake Forest, and in his absence, Mike Krzyzewski rolled with his normal starting five with one exception.

On Senior Night, Coach K gave the nod to Antonio Vrankovic over Marques Bolden along side of Tre Jones, Alex O’Connell, Cam Reddish, and R.J. Barrett.

It was a very, very sluggish start for the Blue Devils against Wake Forest.

The only player that looked like he was ready to play from the jump was R.J. Barrett.

Barrett led the way for the Blue Devils in the first half with 15 points, two rebounds, and two assists, making six of his eleven attempts as Duke leads 35-34 after 20 minuets against the Demon Deacons.

Jack White continued his hot shooting from 3-point range, making his first two attempts of the night and finishing the first half with eight points.

Cam Reddish had a rather quick first half, picking up two offensive fouls in the opening minutes, however, he did return and picked up another offensive foul, heading to the bench for the remainder of the half. Reddish did not score in the first half.

Tre Jones stuffed the stat sheet with four points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Duke just has to be focused in the second half and come out of the locker room and take care of business. Wake Forest is not a good team and the Blue Devils are letting them hang around in Cameron Indoor Stadium, which is dangerous.

We’ve seen first halves like this before against Georgia Tech and Boston College and Duke work up in the second half in those games and cruised to victory. Expect to see a classic Duke second half run to put Wake Forest away in the second half.
