The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will reluctantly walk into Cameron Indoor Stadium on Tuesday night to take on the Duke Basketball team.

It has been a season to forget in Winston-Salem for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Mercifully, the season should only last three more games, but in two of those three games for Wake Forest will come against ranked teams, staring with a trip to Durham on Tuesday night to face the No. 4 Duke Blue Devils.

Wake will then host the No. 14 Florida State Seminoles in the regular season finale before playing on the Opening Day of the ACC Tournament next Tuesday.

The Demon Deacon’s season just never got off the ground, losing its second game of the season to St. Joseph’s and then losing the fifth game of the season to Houston Baptist, both at home.

Losses to Richmond, Tennessee, and Gardner-Webb in three of the last six non-conference games set the tone for Danny Manning‘s team going into conference play.

Wake Forest lost seven of its first eight ACC games, with the second conference game coming against the Duke Blue Devils.

Falling 87-65 to Duke, Jaylen Hoard and Brandon Childress led the way for Wake in that January matchup.

Hoard finished with 13 points and nine rebounds compared to Childress’ 12 points.

The only other player to reach double figures for Wake Forest was Sharone Wright Jr. with 12 points.

Childress leads Wake Forest in scoring on the season, averaging 14.6 points per game, while Hoard is right behind him at 13.4 points per game and can be lethal from 3-point range, shooting 45.3%.

At 11-17 overall and 4-12 in the ACC, there really aren’t that many good things to say about this Wake Forest team and you have to imagine things aren’t going to get better against the Blue Devils on Tuesday night.
