Undecided recruits all over the country, along with millions of other folks, will be tuned in to watch the Blue Devils host the Tar Heels, but one Duke basketball target will have the privilege to be there in person.

When the No. 1 Duke basketball team plays No. 8 UNC in Cameron Indoor Stadium tonight, the crowd will include a five-star 2020 point guard who remains on the radar of both rival programs.

Jeremy Roach, a 6-foot-2, 165-pound native of Fairfax, Va., is currently on an unofficial visit to Duke and will be in attendance for the game, as reported in a tweet from 247Sports’ Evan Daniels on Wednesday. Although he has already taken an official visit to the Durham campus — came the weekend of Oct. 12, 2018 — that visit did not coincide with a Duke basketball game.

Shortly after that visit, though, the defensive-specialist floor general who ranks No. 17 on the 247Sports Composite for his class, made Blue Devil fans smile when he announced his list of four schools he is considering: Duke, UNC, Kentucky, and Villanova.

While Roach has not specified a timetable for making his final decision, he has mentioned in the past that he has talked about joining forces with several other five-star prospects, a few of whom hold offers from the Blue Devils. In other words, a commitment from Roach has the potential to lead to several others.

And it shouldn’t hurt Duke’s recruiting efforts that he will likely sit behind the Duke bench tonight and alongside 2019 commit Vernon Carey Jr., a big man who ranks No. 3 on the composite for the 2019 class.

Of course, a Duke win — and the celebration inside Cameron Indoor Stadium that would ensue — could also play a role in making Roach’s future decision a no-brainer.

If the Blue Devils do eventually land a commitment from Roach, who has sat out his entire junior season due to tearing his ACL back in November, they will have a point guard with the potential to be a starter as a college freshman during the 2020-21 season. In addition to his strengths on defense, which bring to mind those of current Duke freshman point guard Tre Jones, Roach has a smooth jumper, advanced ball-handling skills, and plenty of speed.

Currently, Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski and his staff have not received a commitment from a 2020 recruit. But in addition to Roach, they have extended offers to five other 2020 five-stars: small forward Jalen Johnson (ranks No. 3 on the composite), small forward Scottie Barnes (ranks No. 4), combo guard R.J. Hampton (ranks No. 5), shooting guard B.J. Boston (ranks No. 9), and center Walker Kessler (ranks No. 16).
