The former Duke Basketball standout, Marvin Bagley III, posted a career high on Sunday night in the Kings victory over the Suns.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft posted a career high in points while playing the No. 1 overall pick on Sunday night.

Marvin Bagley III and the Sacramento Kings ran circles around the Phoenix Suns as Bagley poured in a career high 32 points in 32 minutes in Sacramento’s 117-104 victory.

Despite the Kings and the Suns playing two other times this season, Marvin Bagley did not play in those games and this was the first time he went up against the only player that was taken before him in the 2018 NBA Draft, DeAndre Ayton.

In addition to Bagley’s 32 points, he also added seven rebounds and an assist, a block, and a steal, coming off the bench.

Bagley made ten of his fifteen attempts from the field and one of two attempts from 3-point range, while sinking eleven of thirteen from the free throw line.

Ayton performed well in his first professional match up with Bagley, but his 16 points and nine rebounds don’t come close to Bagley on this night.

On the season, Bagley is averaging 13.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game in 24.2 minutes per game and only having played in 42 games while Ayton averages 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks per game in 31.0 minutes per game and playing in 52 games this season.

Just a week before the NBA All-Star Break, the Sacramento Kings have been one of the biggest surprises this season with a 30-26 record and only a half of game out of the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference, while the Phoenix Suns are still the doormat of the West, sitting in last place with an 11-47 record, tied with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the worst record in the NBA, behind the 10-45 record of the New York Knicks.

In the last game before the All-Star break, Marvin Bagley III and the Kings will travel to Denver to take on the Nuggets on Wednesday night.
