Duke Basketball: Virginia hoping to get Ty Jerome back ahead of rematch
The Virginia Cavaliers are hoping for the return of Ty Jerome on Saturday afternoon as the Cavs welcome in the Duke Basketball team for the much anticipated rematch.
It will be the first time the Duke Blue Devils have faced a team for the second time this season, but in a sense, it will be the first time a fully healthy Duke team will play a (maybe) fully healthy Virginia team.
The Blue Devils were without point guard Tre Jones against Virginia in the 72-70 victory on January 19.

However, as the second showdown between the Top-5 teams nears on Saturday, the tables have flipped and it is Virginia who is dealing with injury questions as guard Ty Jerome missed last Saturday’s game with what Head Coach Tony Bennett called a ‘sore back’ and Jerome was listed as day-to-day.
In the loss to Duke, Jerome had 14 points, four rebounds, and four assists, while being the team’s leader in assists and steals with 4.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game to go along with being the team’s third leading scorer at 13.0 points per game.
Since dropping its only game on the year in Cameron Indoor Stadium, Virginia has won four straight games, with the closest game coming on the road against North Carolina State, as the Cavs defeated the Wolfpack, 66-65 in overtime.
The other three wins for Virginia during that time has been at home over Wake Forest and Miami and on the road against Notre Dame.
As the team’s leading scorer, De’Andre Hunter has led the Cavs in scoring in three of those four games, bumping his points per game average to 14.7, while Kyle Guy lead the team in scoring in the win over Wake Forest.
Guy is Virginia’s second leading scorer at 14.5 points per game.
As Virginia will look for revenge over the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday evening, but the day will start at 11:00 am ET with ESPN’s College GameDay from John Paul Jones Arena, with tipoff coming at 6:00 pm ET, also on ESPN.
