The Duke Basketball freshman sensation R.J. Barrett has been recognized by the ACC as one of the Co-Freshman of the Week.

It feels like the ACC is trying to spread the wealth when handing out its weekly honors because let’s be honest, the Player and Freshman of the Week Awards should mostly go to R.J. Barrett and Zion Williamson every week.

This week it was R.J. Barrett who was recognized as the ACC’s Co-Freshman of the Week, sharing the honor with North Carolina’s Coby White.

Barrett led the Blue Devils to two victories this week on the road against Pittsburgh and at home against Georgia Tech.

Against the Panthers, Barrett posted 26 points on ten of twenty four shooting, three of seven from 3-point range, and three of four from the foul line. Those points went along with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals in Duke’s 79-64 victory.

The Canadian superstar was able to duplicate his performance against Pitt on Saturday against Georgia Tech as Barrett notched a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds, while also notching three assists and two steals.

In the Blue Devils’ 66-53 victory over the Yellow Jackets, Barrett shot eight of sixteen from the field, one of five from 3-point range, all in the first half, and seven of eight from the foul line, his second best percentage in a game this season with at least eight free throws attempted.

As for the player Barrett is sharing the award with, North Carolina’s Coby White scored 27 points against Virginia Tech last Monday along with seven rebounds, six assists, four steals, and a block. White went nine of sixteen from the field and five for eleven from 3-point range.

R.J. Barrett and the rest of the Duke Blue Devils begin the week on Monday in South Bend against Notre Dame before returning home on Saturday to face the St. John’s Red Storm.
