The former Duke Football quarterback, Daniel Jones, dominated the Reese’s Senior Bowl, and was named as the game’s MVP.

As the best seniors in the country flocked to Mobile, Alabama for the Reese’s Senior Bowl this week, Daniel Jones shined among the best as he was named as the MVP of the prestigious All-Star Game.

After a week of practice, it was time for each player to put their skills on display in the annual playing of the game.

The former Duke quarterback Daniel Jones was placed on the North Team, coached by Oakland Raiders Head Coach Jon Gruden and his coaching staff.

Prior to the game, Gruden said that Jones would start the second half, but as the game unfolded, Gruden allowed Jones to run the two minute drill as time was winding down in the first half.

After a seven yard completion, the North offensive live had some pre-snap penalties that took Jones and the offense out of any rhythm that might have been building.

Jones was back on the field to start the second half and he picked up right where he left on in the Blue Devils Bowl victory in the Walk-On’s Independence Bowl over the Temple Owls.

Trailing 12-3, in his first drive of the second half, Jones led the North Team on a 10 play, 84 yard touchdown drive that was capped off by Jones running the read option and taking it in himself from one yard out.

The North Team would then recover a fumble that set Jones up with great field position and it only took Jones two plays to find the end zone after a 25 yard pass on a flea flicker followed by a 19 yard touchdown pass.

That would be Jones’ final drive of the game as he led the North Team back from its deficit and led 17-12. The North Team would not relinquish the lead from that point going onto win the Reese’s Senior Bowl 34-24.

Head Coach Jon Gruden slapped a Oakland Raiders sticker on Jones’ helmet after the first touchdown drive as he did with many players on the North Team who had outstanding plays.

Jones completed eight of his eleven passes for 110 yards and a touchdown with the one rush for one yard and a rushing touchdown.

Other notable quarterbacks to win MVP of Senior Bowl are Marshall’s Chad Pennington in 2000, North Carolina State’s Philip Rivers in 2004, and Mississippi State’s Dak Prescott in 2016.

Next up for Daniel Jones in terms of the NFL Draft process is the NFL Scouting Combine which will be in Indianapolis, Indiana starting on February 26 until March 4.
