The former Duke Basketball freshman star , Marvin Bagley III, was injured early in the Sacramento Kings loss to the Golden State Warriors.

Marvin Bagley III has had a successful rookie season so far, but he will have to put his first NBA season on hold for the time being after suffering a bone bruise in his left knee.

Bagley left Friday night’s loss to the Golden State Warriors just after only five minutes of action and did not return for the remainder of the Kings 130-125 defeat.

James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area reported that the former Duke freshman star suffered the injury and will not be in the Kings lineup in the near future. Ham also reported that Bagley will be reevaluated by the Kings medical team in the next 10 – 14 days.

The No. 2 overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft has averaged 12.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, and 0.9 assists per game.

Bagley is shooting 53.6% from the field, 34.6% from three point range, and 68.3% from the free throw line.

The Sacramento Kings have been rather surprising in the early part of the NBA season, posting a 16-13 record which is good for the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference.

The Kings have the same record as the Memphis Grizzlies and the Portland Trail Blazers and hold a better record than teams that were thought of to be playoff caliber like the Houston Rockets, New Orleans Pelicans, and Utah Jazz.

The Kings defeated the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night and are back in action tonight as they travel to Minnesota to face the Timberwolves.

If the timetable is correct for a recovery for Marvin Bagley III, he will be on the sidelines until at least the start of the new calendar year.

Hopefully, the Kings are able to sustain its surprising start to the season and Bagley will be back on the floor trying to help the Kings secure its first playoff berth since 2006.
