Both teams are coming off of a loss, but the Wake Forest Demon Deacons have much more instability as they take on the Duke Football team on Saturday.

We are entering the last week of the college football regular season, but it feels like we still don’t know who the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are.

Wake Forest’s defense allows a lot of points, giving up 56 to Notre Dame, 63 to Clemson, and 41 to Syracuse, the the Demon Deacons showed up two games ago on the road against NC State only allowing 23 points and winning, 27-23.

That is the only victory over a ranked opponents Wake Forest has this season as they currently sit at 5-6, needing a win over the Blue Devils to become bowl eligible.

Like Duke, Wake Forest also has tried to overcome many injuries this season, most notably to their quarterback Sam Hartman who was lost for the year due to a leg injury.

Hartman had thrown 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions on the year as well as rushing for a pair of touchdowns.

Backup quarterback Jamie Newman has filled in nicely, completing 56.4% of his passes with four touchdowns and three interceptions on the season.

The Demon Deacons are led by the two man backfield of Matt Colburn and Cade Carney. Colburn did not play against Pittsburgh but the duo have the same amount of carries at 145, however, Carney leads with 731 yards and six touchdowns while Colburn has 698 yards and five touchdowns.

The leading receiver for Wake Forest is Greg Dortch who has caught 79 passes for 954 yards and seven touchdowns.
