Duke Football is looking to continue their momentum against the North Carolina Tar Heels in the battle for the Victory Bell.

If you like offense, this is the game for you.

Both teams took their first two drives right down the field for touchdowns.

For the North Carolina Tar Heels, their first drive ended in a Anthony Ratliff-Wiliams 13 yard touchdown. The Tar Heels used a prolific rushing attack to gash the Blue Devils consistently in the first half.

The Blue Devils responded to the UNC touchdown with a score of their own as Daniel Jones completed a pass to Chris Taylor on a 3rd & 5 and Taylor broke a tackle and took off for 52 yards.

The Tar Heels would come right back at the Blue Devils as Michael Carter took control and scampered for a 40 yard touchdown to give North Carolina the lead right back.

Once again, it didn’t take the Blue Devils long to answer the UNC score as Daniel Jones marched the Duke offense right back down the field with ended with a touchdown pass to Daniel Helm to once again tie the score.

The defenses finally decided to show up as both teams were forced to punt on their next possessions but once Carolina got the ball back, they were once again on the march, but a missed field goal gave the Blue Devils the ball back and the momentum.

Jones and the Duke offense would capitalize after a pass to T.J. Rahming bought the Blue Devils inside of the North Carolina 10 yard line and Jones then found Davis Koppenhaver for a touchdown to give Duke their first lead of the day.

However, this time it was North Carolina that would respond and a Javonte Williams touchdown run from two yards out would knot the game up at 21.

But guess what?

The Blue Devils would respond.

Duke used two defensive pass interferences to their advantage which ended with a Deon Jackson touchdown run to put the Blue Devils up 28 – 21.

But like always, the Duke lead didn’t last long as Dazz Newsome took off for an 84 yard touchdown to tie the game once again.

The Blue Devils tried to respond to the North Carolina touchdown, but after driving deep into UNC territory, the Tar Heels forced Duke into a field goal attempt and Collin Wareham‘s attempt was no good, keeping the score tied at 28.

After the Duke missed field goal, North Carolina went three and out and punted the ball right back to Duke and Daniel Jones then took it upon himself to run 61 yards for a Duke touchdown, to give Duke a 35 – 28 lead at halftime.

Daniel Jones completed 15 of his 26 pass attempts in the first half for 233 yards and three touchdown. Jones also ran for 113 yards on eight carries and a touchdown.

UNC quarterback, Nathan Elliot, was ten of fifteen for 98 yards, but the ‘Heels did most of their damage on the ground which was led by Carter who rushed for 115 yards on 10 attempts and a touchdown.

Obviously, the Blue Devils will need to do some soul searching on defense at halftime if they want to win this game and keep the Victory Bell.
