Duke Football: Blue Devils win in Miami for the first time since 1976
It was a battle between two teams that desperately needed a win as Duke Football traveled to take on the Miami Hurricanes.
It started off with a bang but it was really a struggled after that.
Deon Jackson took the first play of the game to the house for a 75 yard touchdown and the Blue Devils were feeling good early.

However, Mother Nature would have something to say about that as she dumped buckets and buckets of rain on Hard Rock Stadium which caused tons of puddles to gather on the field and horrible footing conditions.
Despite the weather, Miami was able to take a 12-7 lead into the break and was looking to snap their two game losing streak.
The ‘Canes never settled on a quarterback as both Malik Rosier and N’Kosi Perry played in this game, Rosier starting the game but Perry finished it out and played in crunch time.
The Blue Devils would come out with a jolt of energy on defense, not allowing Miami to score a single point in the second half after being a runway for points against Pittsburgh last weekend.
Daniel Jones and the Duke offense got creative in the third quarter after a pop pass by Deon Jackson to Daniel Helm on 3rd down set the Blue Devils up with a 1st and Goal, then another pop pass from Quentin Harris to Helm gave the Blue Devils their second touchdown of the night.
The score gave the Blue Devils a 17-12 lead and they never looked back.
In the wet conditions, the Blue Devils forced two Miami turnovers, both fumbles, while the Blue Devils only turned the football over once.
The ‘Canes out gained the Blue Devils 411 – 290, but the Duke defense was in a bend, but don’t break mode all night.
Daniel Jones finished the night completing 17 of his 35 passes for 130 yards and an interception, while he rushed eight times for 21 yards.
Along with his one pass completion for 12 yards, Deon Jackson rushed 14 times for 113 yards and a touchdown.
Due to the conditions, the Duke receiving corps has a quiet night but Johnathan Lloyd led the way with five catches for 40 yards while tight end Daniel Helm caught four passes for 34 yards and a touchdown.
On the other side, the Miami quarterbacks were putrid as Rosier completed eight of his twelve passes for 76 yards and Perry was five of sixteen for 35 yards.
Miami was most effective on the ground as they were led by Travis Homer who rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries and Deejay Dallas rushed 12 times for 124 yards.
The Hurricanes fell to 5-4 on the year and 2-3 in the ACC as they will travel to Georgia Tech next week.
The Blue Devils are now bowl eligible at 6-3 on the season and 2-3 in the ACC and will gear up for a rivalry game against North Carolina at Wallace Wade Stadium at 12:20 pm ET on Saturday.
