After an upset victory over a ranked opponent the Virginia Cavaliers are set to take on Duke Football in a Saturday afternoon game in Durham.

The Virginia Cavaliers are riding high after their upset victory over then No. 16 Miami last weekend at home, and if you look at the boxscore, I’m still not sure how they won.

Quarterback Bryce Perkins completed 12 of his 21 passes for 92 yards and three interceptions.

The running game against the Hurricanes was good but nothing overly special to make up for the bad quarterback play. Jordan Ellis led the way with 86 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown while Perkins also took off with the ball 21 times, accumulating 61 yards.

The most impressive side of the ball for the Cavs was on defense, forcing three Miami interceptions.

With the win, Virginia moved to 4-2 on the season and 2-1 in ACC play with a date in Durham with the Duke Football team up next.

On the season, Perkins has been a relatively consistent quarterback as he had completed 62.7% of his passes for 1,217 yards, 11 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He has also been a force on the ground as he has rushed for 402 yards on 97 carries and an additional three touchdowns.

However, the Virginia backfield is led by Ellis who has 564 yards on the season and seven touchdowns.

The biggest threat on the outside for Virginia is Olamide Zaccheaus who has hauled in 36 passes for 516 yards and six touchdowns, while the second leading receiver for the Cavs is Hasise Dubois who has 279 yards receiving on the season with 26 receptions and two touchdowns.

The only other Virginia receiver who has more than 100 yards receiving is Joe Reed who has 11 catches for 160 yards and a touchdown.

As the Duke Blue Devils get set to take on the Virginia Cavailers, they will have to especially account for these players who have led Virginia to the hot start that they got off to.
