The FBI investigation in the fall of 2017 took the college basketball world by storm, now with cases being made in the trial a year later, Duke Basketball’sZion Williamson is being discussed.

With many current and former players names being thrown around in talks about getting paid to go to certain programs, big names like Dennis Smith, Markelle Fultz, and Deandre Ayton are being discussed.

This way of paying college athletes to steer them to a specific program is breaking NCAA rules and also potentially breaking federal laws.

Mike Krzyzewski was asked in his media day press conference on Monday, October 15 about the FBI investigation. Myron Medcalf reported about Krzyzewski’s media day press conference and his response about the FBI trial…

"“I really haven’t followed it that much,” Krzyzewski said about the trial during his team’s media day press conference on Monday. “I think it’s minute, it’s a blip. It’s not what’s happening. … We haven’t lost guys because someone cheated. I haven’t paid attention to it because I haven’t been affected by it.”"

Krzyzewski seems confident when talking about the “cheating” going on in college basketball and how his program has not be affected by it. These comments have taken backlash from opposing teams fans on twitter calling out the program.

To make matters worse Zion Williamson’s name was brought up in the FBI trial on Tuesday, October 16. These trial discussions were first reported in a tweet by Dan Wetzel.

Williamson’s name is being discussed because of a taped conversation between Adidas’ Merl Code and Kansas Assistant Coach Kurtis Townsend. It is reported that Williamson hinted at wanting cash compensation and housing for him and his family.

This is on the basis that Code believes he “knows” what Williamson is asking for, however, there is no evidence of Williamson asking for anything from Townsend.

There was minimal information about Zion Williamson’s discussion because it was decided it was denied as evidence in the trial. Therefore, we don’t have a lot of information to go off of.

It has been reported that the trial should be coming to a conclusion in the very near future, but until then we will just have to wait and see if any more information will come out about this new development regarding Zion Williamson.
