The train keeps moving in Durham as a Duke Basketball player was named to a Pre-Season Positional Watch List.

Tre Jones comes into the Duke Basketball program as the No. 17 ranked freshman according to ESPN, but the freshman just received his first honor of the season, being named to the Bob Cousy Award Watch List.

The Basketball Hall of Fame Bob Cousy Award is given to the top point guard in the country at the end of the season.

Tre Jones, the brother of former Duke Basketball star and National Champion Tyus Jones, will assume the starting point guard duties for Duke barring injury.

Along with Jones, fellow ACC opponents Ky Bowman, Ty Jerome, and Justin Robinson were also named to the watch list.

Including Jones, there were only three freshman named to the watch list, the other two being Kansas’ Devon Dotson and Villanova’s Jahvon Quinerly.

The other players that were named to the Bob Cousy Award Watch List are; Auburn’s Jared Harper, Gonzaga’s Josh Perkins, LSU’s Tremont Waters, Marquette’s Markus Howard, Marshall’s Jon Elmore, Michigan State’s Cassius Winston, Nevada’s Cody Martin, Oregon’s Payton Prichard, Purdue’s Carsen Edwards, St John’s’ Shamorie Ponds, TCU’s Alex Robinson, Tennessee’s Jordan Bone, and UCLA’s Jaylen Hands.

The Duke Basketball program has not had a winner of the Bob Cousy Award since the awards existence in 2004 and Tre Jones will look to put an end to that streak.

The Bob Cousy Award Watch List is just one of the five watch lists that will be coming out over the new few days that almost all will include Blue Devils.

The watch lists that still need to be released include, the Jerry West Shooting Guard Award, the Julius Erving Small Forward Award, the Karl Malone Power Forward Award, and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center Award.

The Duke Basketball season will unofficially kick off this Friday with Countdown To Craziness and then the season starts on November 6 in the Champions Classic against Kentucky.
