Reports are coming in saying that the former Duke Football star Jamison Crowder will not play for the Washington Redskins today against the Carolina Panthers.

ESPN’s lead NFL reporter Adam Schefter has reported that former Duke Football star and current wide receiver for the Washington Redskins, Jamison Crowder WILL NOT play against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon.

Crowder injured his ankle in the blowout loss on ESPN’s Monday Night Football against the New Orleans Saints as Crowder saw the most targets he had all season, where quarterback Alex Smith looked for Crowder eight times on the night.

This will be the first game Crowder has missed all season. Over the first four games of the year, Crowder has caught 13 passes on 20 targets for 134 yards and a touchdown. The Duke product has also rushed three times this season for 35 yards.

The Redskins will play the Carolina Panthers in Washington on Sunday at 1:00 pm ET on FOX and you have to imagine the Monroe, North Carolina native would want to suit up against his hometown team.

Crowder did not practice all week, which is leading up to the team not expecting him to play on Sunday.

Along with Jamison Crowder, Redskins running back Chris Thompson is also expected to miss Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, Schefter reports.

The Washington Redskins are currently trying to keep pace in the NFC East with the reigning Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles who defeated fellow NFC East foe the New York Giants on Thursday night to move to 3-3 on the season.

If the Redskins defeat the Panthers, they will move to 3-2 on the year and reclaim first place in the NFC East.

The next time Jamison Crowder could see the field would be on Sunday, October 21 against longtime NFC East rival, the Dallas Cowboys.
