Duke Football: Johnathan Lloyd given surprise award by Allstate

Duke Football wide receiver Johnathan Lloyd was surprise with the 2018 Allstate Good Works Team Award this afternoon after a team meeting for his work both on and off the field.

Regardless of the sport, it takes a special person to be recruited to Duke as an athlete and a student.

Duke Football wide receiver Johnathan Lloyd embodies everything it means to be a Duke student and for his outstanding work both in the classroom, on the field, and in the community, Lloyd was awarded the 2018 Allstate Good Works Team Award on Tuesday afternoon.

During his time at Duke, Lloyd has consistently been a force in the community, volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, which assists with the planning and fundraising of events for children affected by various diseases and illnesses.

Lloyd has also taken many trips to local elementary schools in the Durham area as well as the Boys & Girls Club to help guide and mentor young children.

The Duke wide receiver often visits the Duke Children’s Hospital to spend time with patients and their families, as he was a key contributor to the hospital’s “prom night” that gave the current and former patients a very special night.

On the field, Lloyd in on pace to shatter every season high he had previously set.

His season high in catches is 39, which he set last year, he season high in yardage is 367 yards which he also set last year and his high in touchdowns is three which he set two seasons ago.

Currently through five games Johnathan Lloyd has 21 receptions for 287 yards and three touchdowns, while averaging 13.7 yards per catch.

The Graham, North Carolina native also has one rush for three yards which also ties his rushing career high which he set last season.

As most fans Johnathan Lloyd and the rest of the Duke Football team just on the field, they are doing much more in the community to impact the lives of other in a positive way, not just trying to rack up wins on Saturday afternoons.

Johnathan Lloyd is a fantastic football player, but he is even a better person who will find success whenever his time on the football field comes to an end.
