Duke Basketball: Coach K had dinner with USA Ryder Cup Team

The leader of the Duke Basketball program had dinner with the United States of America Ryder Cup Team ahead of their battle with Team Europe.

It was back on September 6, about three weeks before Team USA traveled to London to take on Team Europe in the Ryder Cup, the the American squad had a team dinner with a special guest and motivational speaker, Mike Krzyzewski.

The United States of America Ryder Cup Team, led by captain Jim Furyk had Coach K talk to the team about team bonding and coming together as a team to beat a high quality opponent.

Coach K knows a thing or two about winning championships as the legendary coach has won 1,100 games as a colligate head coach and five National Championships.

The members of the American Ryder Cup team are Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jordan Speith, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Webb Simpson, Bubba Watson, Brooks Koepka, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, and Bryson DeChambeau.

Coach K also knows what it is like to lead Team USA into battle as K was at the helm of USA Basketball from 1987 until 2017.

In his time with USA Basketball, Coach K captured three Olympic Gold Medals and two FIBA World Championships Gold Medals along with many other distinguished accomplishments.

Team USA is currently trailing Team Europe 10-6 at the Ryder Cup with one day left to play. Team Europe needs 14.5 points to win the Ryder Cup and Team USA needs 14 points to retain the Ryder Cup.

The United States is looking for their first Ryder Cup win on the opponents soil since 1993.

The final day of the Ryder Cup will start at approximately 2:00 am ET on Sunday morning and Coach K has had some impressive comebacks in his career, maybe Team USA will remember his words and have a special comeback of their own.
