With Hurricane Florence bearing down on the Carolina coast and classes being canceled at campuses anywhere near its expected path, Duke basketball prospect B.J. Boston has decided to postpone his first scheduled official visit.

His high school’s mascot, a Blue Devil, could be viewed as a good omen for the Duke basketball program. Hurricane Florence, however, is not helping the situation when it comes to the recruitment of five-star 2020 guard B.J. Boston.

With classes being canceled for Friday (the day that Boston was initially supposed to arrive) due to the expectation of strong winds, heavy rainfall, and possible power outages in the area, it wouldn’t be the ideal situation for a prospect to fully experience all the Duke campus has to offer.

Therefore, the 6-foot-6, 175-pound native of Atlanta will not make the trip to Durham this weekend and intends to reschedule his official visit to Duke for a date that he has yet to specify, according to Corey Evans of Rivals.com.

Boston has offers from more than 20 programs and has not provided a list of programs that he is considering, but Duke is the only school that he has thus far put on his schedule for an official visit. And early predictions point to the Blue Devil coaches eventually making him a member of their 2020 recruiting class. Although only three experts at 247Sports’ Crystal Ball have submitted a projection of where Boston will end up, all three named Duke.

In terms of a comparison that a Duke basketball fan can best understand, Boston’s thin frame and skill set make him a close resemblance to former Blue Devil and current Los Angeles Laker Brandon Ingram.

247Sports’ Composite ranks Boston as the No. 14 overall prospect and No. 4 shooting guard in the 2020 class. So far, Duke does not have a commitment from a recruit in the 2019 or 2020 class.
