Despite the victory it was a rather gray weekend for Duke Football, but they have two players that were recognized for their outstanding play on the field.

Daniel Jones and Ben Humphreys were poised to be major players for the Duke Blue Devils before the season began, and through two weeks those players have lived up to and exceeded expectations as Duke jumped out to a 2-0 start.

However, with Daniel Jones being out indefinitely for the Blue Devils with a clavicle injury suffered in the 2nd half against Northwestern on Saturday afternoon, Jones’ Week 2 will end somewhat on a high note after being named as the ACC Quarterback of the Week.

Before leaving with his injury, Jones completed 16 of his 22 pass attempts for 192 yards and three touchdown passes. His effort gave him a quarterback rating of 81.9.

Jones is normally dynamic with his legs too, but he failed to put his running ability on display in the first half in Duke’s 21-7 victory.

With Jones’ injury it’ll be a waiting game for Duke as he heals from surgery on his left clavicle.

As for Ben Humphreys, he also took home ACC honors as the Linebacker of the Week.

Humphreys was Duke’s top defender as he recorded 15 total tackles, five solo tackles, and a half o tackle for a loss which he teamed up with Joe Giles-Harris to accomplish.

The Duke defense allowed Northwestern to drive down the field on their first possession for a touchdown but then shut out the Wildcats for the remainder of the game.

The Wildcats loss snapped the longest active winning streak in college football at nine games, dating back to last season.

Despite the many injuries on both sides of the ball on Saturday afternoon, the Blue Devils play again on Saturday as they travel to Waco, Texas to take on the Baylor Bears in a non-conference matchup at 3:30 pm ET.
