Five-star Duke basketball prospect Wendell Moore just trimmed his list again, and it’s now down to a battle between the Big Four schools in North Carolina.
It appears as if Duke basketball prospect Wendell Moore, a five-star recruit in the class of 2019, is attempting to create his own version of the Big Four Tournament (an event that took place in Greensboro Coliseum from 1971-81 and included the four powerhouse basketball programs in North Carolina).
On Tuesday, Moore’s coach at Cox Mill High School, Jody Barbee, told Andrew Ramspacher of The State that the small forward has canceled his visit to the University of South Carolina that was scheduled for Sept. 8. According to Ramspacher, Moore is no longer considering the Gamecocks
This latest news indicates that the 6-foot-5, 210-pounder from Concord, N.C., has four teams from the Tar Heel State remaining on his list: Duke, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Wake Forest.

Moore has planned a visit to N.C. State this weekend. He will travel to Duke on Sept. 22, Wake Forest on Sept. 29, and UNC on Oct. 12.
Based on the dates for his official visits and the benefit of having the distraction of his final decision out of the way before his senior season starts, it would be reasonable to expect him to announce what program he will join by Halloween at the latest.
And while Wake Forest may have won more Big Four Tournaments (four) than the other three schools decades ago, it is the Duke Blue Devils who are expected by most experts to outlast the other North Carolina programs in the competition for Moore.
According to the Crystal Ball at 247 Sports, the Duke coaches have an 88 percent chance to hear the ultimate news from Moore that they have been hoping for.
The composite rankings at 247 Sports list Moore as the 24th best prospect in his class and the sixth best small forward.
So far, the Blue Devils have yet to receive a single commitment from any player in the class of 2019.
