The Duke Football team has named its captains for the 2018 season and some big names will lead the Blue Devils into battle this year.

Every team needs its leaders and while the Duke Blue Devils have many on the team, they just named the four players that will be the captains for the upcoming season.

Daniel Jones, Johnathan Lloyd, Joe Giles-Harris and Ben Humphries will be the Duke Football captions for 2018.

It is the second year in a row that Jones has been named captain while it is the first time the other three Blue Devils have received the honor.

More from Ball Durham

Daniel Jones is ready to lead the Blue Devils offense as the quarterback enters his third season at the helm of Duke Football and he is looking to make a major leap in terms of production this season.

Jones finished last season with 2,619 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while completing only 56.7% of his passes with a quarterback rating of 112.0. The Duke signal caller also rushed for 518 yards and seven touchdowns.

One of Jones’ targets this season was also named a captain, wide receiver Johnathan Lloyd.

While Lloyd hasn’t put up eye catching numbers while at Duke, the redshirt senior is ready to make an impact with this years Blue Devil offense.

The Graham, North Carolina native has accumulated 73 catches for 668 yards and four touchdowns over the past two seasons.

A big reason why Lloyd was named captain because he puts in the work on and off the field being named to the Academic All-ACC team for the past two years.

On the defensive side of the ball, Joe Giles-Harris is primed to be one of the best defenders in the ACC and he is ready for a breakout junior season.

The Blue Devils linebacker finished his 2017 season with 125 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and one interception.

The star linebacker was also named to the Preseason All-ACC First Team, as well as receiving two preseason votes for ACC Player of the Year.

Giles-Harris’ linebacker counterpart was also named a captain in Ben Humphries.

Humphries returns as the Blue Devils starting middle linebacker and last season he thrived with 70 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and an interception return for a touchdown.

The linebacker tandem of Joe Giles-Harris and Ben Humphries can be one of the best in the ACC and having the two as leaders of the Duke Football team both on and off the field is a big deal.

The Duke Blue Devils kick off their season on August 31 against the Army Black Knights at Wallace Wade Stadium at 7:30 pm ET.
