Amile Jefferson took the floor once again at the Las Vegas Summer League and his biggest test was awaiting him, Jarrett Allen of the Brooklyn Nets.

Amile Jefferson was a force at Duke, a force with the Iowa Wolves in the NBA G-League, and now he is a force at the Las Vegas Summer League.

In his previous two games with the Minnesota Timberwolves Summer League team, Jefferson notched double-double’s in both games and although he did not reach a double-double in Monday nights game against the Brooklyn Nets Summer League team, his most daunting challenge was in front of him.

More from Ball Durham

Jarrett Allen of the Brooklyn Nets averaged 8.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for the Nets last season and on Monday he suited up for Brookyn’s Summer League team.

The 6-foot 10-inch, 234-pound center was matched up against Amile Jefferson for a majority of the night and the former Duke big man proved he is capable of playing with NBA-caliber big men.

In 26 minutes of action, Allen was only able to muster eight points, making three of his six shots attempts. Allen also had 12 rebounds and five blocked shots.

While Jefferson did struggle shooting the ball, he was able to score five points on two of seven shooting. Jefferson was his active and sneaky self on the backboards, pulling down 12 rebounds and swatting four shots.

Jefferson has yet to face a player of Allen’s caliber in the Las Vegas Summer League and tonight only proves that he deserves a shot in an NBA training camp if not with the Minnesota Timberwolves than another NBA team.

With the Timberwolves 78 – 69 victory over the Brooklyn Nets Summer League team they finished the Las Vegas Summer League with a 2 -1 record. Monday night was the final game of the “regular season” for the Timberwolves and now they will wait and see if they qualified for the Las Vegas Summer League Playoff Tournament.
