Duke in the NBA: Wendell Carter Jr. Keeps Rolling in Vegas

In the last game of the week at the Las Vegas Summer League, Wendell Carter Jr. and the Chicago Bulls took on the “home team” Los Angeles Lakers.

Wendell Carter Jr. might have had the most impressive debut of the top picks in the 2018 NBA Draft at the Las Vegas Summer League. He showed how gifted he was offensive while also showcasing his defensive prowess and quickness to the basketball.

As Carter Jr. and the rest of the Chicago Bulls Summer League team got set to play the Los Angeles Lakers Summer League team, many expected more of the same from Wendell, and he delivered.

Wendell Carter Jr. scored nine points in twenty-five minutes, but midway through the third quarter Carter Jr. left the game with what looked like to be cramps in his leg. The Bulls training staff was working on the former Duke big man through the second half, but Carter Jr. did return to the floor in the fourth quarter as the Bulls fell to the Lakers 69 – 60.

Wendell only took five shots from the floor, making two of them, while missing both of his attempts from three-point range.

Most of Carter Jr.’s damage was done at the free throw line as he drained five of his eight attempts from the charity stripe.

The No. 7 overall pick also had seven rebounds and four blocks and an assist in his action Sunday night.

The Chicago Bulls Summer League team returns to action on Tuesday as they face off against the Atlanta Hawks Summer League team at 6:00 pm ET that can be seen on NBATV.

The city of Chicago, as well as the Bulls organization, took a major sigh of relief when Carter Jr. returned to the game with no limitation as he and fellow big man Lauri Markkanen look to be the centerpieces to the historic franchise.
