The Duke Baseball signal caller would not be left out of the major Day Three the Blue Devils had in the 2018 MLB Draft on Wednesday.

Chris Proctor has been the model of consistency for the Duke Baseball program, and now he gets one step closer to his dream of The Show, being the No. 375 Overal Selection in the 13th Round for the Detroit Tigers in the 2018 MLB Draft.

Proctor came into Duke in 2016 playing in 50 games, starting 46. He hit .281 with two triples, one double, and 17 RBI. Proctor’s defense behind the plate was also sensational only making one error, for a .997 fielding percentage.

After the season, Proctor was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

Back for his sophomore year, Proctor’s offensive numbers took a bit of a fall, but his defense was even better than the year before.

Proctor’s average dropped to .255 but managed to hit two triples and four doubles with 21 RBI. He was perfect behind the plate, not committing an error in the 45 games he played.

After three great performances in the ACC Tournament, Proctor was named to the 2017 All-ACC Tournament Team.

The Duke catcher is now enjoying a career season in virtually every offensive statistic. Proctor is hitting a very good .291 with four home runs, three triples, 10 doubles, and 46 RBI. He has stolen 11 of 13 bases and drawn 27 walks on the year.

While boosting his offensive numbers, Proctor’s outstanding defense has remained constant with a .996 fielding percentage.

Last weekend during the Regionals of the NCAA Baseball Tournament, Proctor was named to the NCAA Athens Regional All-Tournament Team.

Over his career as a Blue Devil, Proctor has hit .278 with four home runs, 84 RBI, and a remarkable .997 fielding percentage as a catcher.

Like his fellow teammates that were lucky enough to hear their names called this week in the Draft, Proctor will be focused on helping the Blue Devils to advance to the College World Series with a series win this weekend at Texas Tech.
