The Duke Baseball team is hot, but all of the records are thrown out the window this weekend as rival North Carolina comes to Durham.

The Blue Devils swept a Sunday doubleheader against Garner Webb, 13-4, and 10-4.

Duke had one last tune-up before the series everyone had circled on their calendar and the Blue Devils took care of business against Liberty, defeating them 5-2 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, the home of the Durham Bulls.

It’ll be the same location as the No. 4 North Carolina Tar Heels come to town to take on the No. 13 Duke Blue Devils.

The Heels come in at 33-14, winners of nine straight before losing on Wednesday to Coastal Carolina.

North Carolina is led at the plate by Kyle Datres with his .340 batting average, but it’s Michael Busch who is the Tar Heels home run and RBI leader with 11 long balls and 48 runs batted in, to go along with his .303 average.

On the mound, it’s Tyler Baum and Austin Bergner that lead the Tar Heels.

Baum has a 3-1 record with a 4.26 ERA, while Bergner has a 5-1 record with a 4.37 ERA.

Brett Daniels is the workhorse out of the bullpen for North Carolina posting a 6-0 record with a 2.22 ERA.

This weekend will be a major factor in who comes away with the ACC Coastal Division.

The Tar Heels currently hold the top spot with an 18-6 record in conference, while the Blue Devils are right behind them with a 15-8 conference record.

Despite the conference record, the Blue Devils have a better record than North Carolina at 36-11 on the 2018 campaign.

The pitching matchups have yet to be announced for Saturday and Sunday, while the lineups for Friday night will be released momentarily.
