Duke Football is currently on a six-game losing streak. Do they have a chance to beat Georgia Tech in their final home game of the season?

Duke Football had a very promising start to the season winning their first four games. However, that seems like a completely different season after they dropped six straight. The Blue Devils hope to avoid losing their 7th straight game this weekend when they host Georgia Tech.

Last week, we noted how Duke needed to win at least two of their last three games to gain bowl eligibility. A Week 11 matchup against Army seemed like the perfect opportunity to get one of those wins. The Blue Devils were coming off a bye week, taking a break from ACC and Power Five competition, and have had recent success against the Black Knights. However, Duke suffered another loss falling 21-16 at Army. The offense struggled to score while the defense allowed 226 rushing yards.

Unfortunately for the Blue Devils, Georgia Tech runs the exact same run-oriented triple-option offense as Army. The Yellow Jackets have had an up-and-down season, coming off an upset of Virginia Tech. They are currently 5-4 and will also be looking to gain bowl-eligibility this weekend.

David Cutcliffe and the players also recognize the magnitude of this game. A win is not just important for this season, but for the future of the program. Redshirt senior center and team captain Austin Davis had this to say about trying to win six games:

"“We’ve got two games left and we’ve got to get to six wins, so that’s what we’re fighting for. That has been our goal the whole year – to get to a bowl game and try to win a bowl game. So we still have that goal in mind. It’s a two-game season now. You take it one game at a time and try to work and work, and try to get to that game in December.”"

Duke Football hosts Georgia Tech on Saturday with a 3:30 afternoon kickoff. The program will also be honoring 21 players on Senior Day this weekend for the final home game of the season. This is a must-win game for the Blue Devils to return to the postseason after a 4-8 season bowl game after missing the postseason last year.
