The top high school prospect in the nation is ready to make his college decision. Will Duke Basketball be able to land talented small forward R.J. Barrett?

Barrett is ready to announce his decision, and considering the Blue Devils as a college destination.

Five-star small forward R.J. Barrett is not only one of the top college prospects, but one of the top prep players in the world. The Canadian SF has dominated for Montverde Academy in FL and in international play with the Canadian junior national teams. Barrett led Canada to the U19 FIBA World Champsionship over the summer, upsetting a John Calipari-led USA team in the semifinals.

The FIBA World Cup win was “truly historic“, according to former NBA great and Canadian Steve Nash, marking the first ever men’s basketball gold medal for Canada and the first loss for the USA Basketball team in six years. Barrett was named MVP of the tournament after leading all players in scoring averaging 21.6 points per game along with 8.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.7 steals.

Similar to current Duke freshman Marvin Bagley III, Barrett was originally scheduled to graduate in 2019 but reclassified over the summer to finish a year early and start his college career in 2018. Barrett is a 6-6, 180 pound do-it-all forward who excels offensively and is an athletic defender. NBA scouts also love his game, with very early mock drafts picking Barrett to be the first pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

R.J. Barrett previously announced his final three schools on Twitter, and will decide between Duke, Kentucky, and Oregon. Duke is currently the heavy favorite to land the talented wing according to 247Sports’ Crystal Ball, but we won’t know for sure until he officially announces his decision. If he commits to Duke, he will join an already great class featuring point guard Tre Jones and forward Cameron Reddish.
