5Dimes betting sportsbook recently released their projected win totals for every FBS team for the 2015-2016 college football season. Duke was predicted to win 7 games (over -150, under +110) this upcoming regular season, which according to 5Dimes would put them at 8th in the conference, 3rd in the Coastal Division, and means the Blue Devils would be eligible for their 4th straight bowl game appearance.

ESPN’s ACC Football analyst Jared Shanker agreed with the projections for Duke, saying it was a ‘Push’ for the Blue Devils to win 7 games this season. I personally believe the Blue Devils can exceed 7 wins, but may be a little biased, after Duke is coming off three straight bowl game appearances, a trip to the 2013 ACC Championship game, and two consecutive 9+ win seasons under head coach David Cutcliffe.
The Blue Devils don’t have a very difficult schedule for the 2015 season, avoiding Atlantic division powerhouses Florida State and Clemson (they get Boston College and annual rival Wake Forest) as well as ACC/independent school Notre Dame. Duke also has a pretty easy nonconference schedule, except for a visit from Northwestern, and will be able to host Miami and defending Coastal division champion Georgia Tech for home games in Durham.
Canes Warning
Duke Football will be entering somewhat of a rebuilding year this season after graduating the winningest class in program history, however several key players will also be returning and are expected to make an impact with 8 named preseason All-ACC performers and two preseason All-Americans, according to Phil Steele. The Blue Devils will also have a completely new and inexperienced starting quarterback, but Coach Cutcliffe is confident in the QB situation heading into the season with redshirt junior Thomas Sirk.
The 2015 Duke Football season will begin Thursday, September 3rd on the road at Tulane. Coach Cutcliffe and the Blue Devils will be looking to make a bowl game appearance for the 4th year in a row and win the program’s first postseason game since the 1961 Cotton Bowl victory against Arkansas.
