Redshirt senior Takoby Cofield is another player who will possibly be drafted in this year’s NFL Draft. As of right now, the offensive tackle is projected to be selected near the end of the draft in the last few rounds of most mock drafts or be signed early as a free agent:

  • At 6-4 and 310 pounds, Cofield has great size for an NFL offensive tackle but his main weakness is that his foot speed is too slow to keep up with an NFL caliber defensive lineman. Most pro scouts believe that he will be able to be a decent run-blocker for a team’s running game but will need to work on his pass protection. Although he’s projected to be selected in the last round or undrafted for his rookie season next year, Cofield has already gained a lot of interest and met with several teams including the Detroit Lions, the Houston Texans, the New England Patriots, his hometown team the Carolina Panthers, and more.

Takoby Cofield was honored as an All-ACC Third Team selection this year and played a key role along with fellow offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson at Duke to give the Blue Devils one of the best offensive lines in the country last season. Hopefully Cofield will be able to hear his name called to join a team April 30-May 2 during the seven rounds of the 2015 NFL Draft in Chicago.
